The Firehouse Lounge - An Upscale Pittsburgh Bar
The Firehouse Lounge - An Upscale Pittsburgh Bar
The Firehouse Lounge, located in the Strip District of Pittsburgh is one of the nicest bars Pittsburgh After Work has reviewed. There is a great outdoor deck, good music, plenty of room, and awesome mojitos, basically everything we thought we needed to bring our old, old, old, gray friend’s birthday in with a bash. Well people we were wrong, dead freaking wrong.
So we all arrive at the Firehouse around 7pm ready to drink and have a good time. I immediately head to the bar to get a round of beers and hand the bartender a $20, not enough, not happy. I mean I understand that bars in the strip district are expensive but $6 a beer is just retarded. Once we got over the ridiculous price, we decided to sit back, drink, and have a good time.
As the evening progressed the Firehouse starts to become much more enjoyable, and we start to brown out, and forgot about the $6 beers. More of our friends arrive for the party and the place is packed, filled with people from wall to wall. Typically this would be awesome, Pittsburgh after work loves to meet new Pittsburghers out at the bar but this was the exception. The once fantastic drinker to bar tender ratio has now plummeted. At this point we had a better chance of getting lupus than getting a drink, so instead of whining about it and crying, we simply got our own. By getting our own, I mean, finding glasses, reaching behind the bar to the taps and pouring our own drinks. In retrospect this was probably a bad idea, because we look like cheap assholes, and more importantly it’s not cool to steal from a bar even if they are marking drinks up 175%.
Now that we are getting free drinks, PAW is much happier and having a great time. That is until we get kicked out. Now I don’t blame The Firehouse staff for kicking us out figuring one of the people we were with hit the deck, but the bar tender was a dick. The dude was not nice about it at all and even grabbed the bouncer to make himself look like the man, which he clearly wasn’t.
Overall the Firehouse lounge is one of the better bars in Pittsburgh’s Strip District and a good place to hang out and have some drinks. However, don’t expect to get drinks too quickly and expect really dueschey bar tenders.

What Beers were you guys drinking? I usually only pay $4, which seems to be the price everywhere nowadays. Did you do anything to get kicked out? and which bartender so I know not to go to him ever?

We were drinking Amstels, nothing too out of the ordinary and I swear the drinks were $6. Although i was getting after it pretty good that night, i specifically remember the drinks being much more expensive than I thought they should be. We got kicked out because one of the people we were with decided to timber over and hit the deck. I agree that we should of probably been kicked out for that but the dude was a giant duesche about the whole process. As for the bartender, he legitimately looks like a leprechaun so if you see him give him a shitty tip.

Hmm sounds odd because I go to happy hour there pretty often, and they always have all day beer specials for $2-$2.50. Sounds like you just got a little too drunk to remember the details. Did you take the mandatory 10% drink tax into account that would make an Amstel $5.50-6 which doesn’t seem that odd. Their drinks are $6 but they are known for a heavy pour and a premium well, basically a double drink of LEVEL for $6 ain’t too shabby, so again it seems fair.
The biggest reason I replied to this is that you are a jerk for stealing product from a business and then taking the time to slam them publicly. Why would a staff be nice to you when you are stealing? They should have tossed you off the deck. Your whole tone is disgusting, not to mention you seem “entitled” to something by posting a negative review. AND THEN you bring Lupus into it? I hope that anyone who reads this review only focuses on the part that is actually true:

Pittsburgh sucks, it’s no secret. But as someone who has spent a considerable amount of time in your lovely town, I have to say Firehouse lounge was by far the best bar I’ve been to. Great music, a good, young crowd without the all too common crowd of loud, obnoxious creppy older guys. The only drawback I noticed was the d-bag bartenders they like to employ. PAW: you just keep doing what youre doing, players.
