Bar Louie Bar Review
![]()
Station Square is always a good area to spend your night, because if one bar is lame, you can move right on to another bar or club. Bar Louie sits on the main drag of Station Square, across from the shopping plaza. This spacious bar looks over the Monongahela River, has a large bar and plenty of seating. It is the optimal place for an after work bar, sitting in a convenient location for those working on either side of the tunnels. As with most other bars in Station Square, Bar Louie is an upscale Pittsburgh bar with a mature crowd.
Most notably, Bar Louie has an extensive selection of local beers on draft (people from this area who cannot go without their Coors or Iron City will appreciate this). The joint has good mixed drinks, although the prices are higher than your typical bar in Pittsburgh’s South Side. The line for the bathroom is never unbearable, there are multiple exits, and even the option to go outside sets this Pittsburgh bar above most. Bar Louie is a more sophisticated bar, and is definitely hit or miss. Some weekend nights it’s a crowded social scene with wedding parties coming from the hotel near by, while other weekend nights it is definitely so beat that you can hear a happier crowd across the street at Buckheads Saloon.
The best part about this bar is the impressive view of the Pittsburgh skyline. Bar Louie is only minutes away from the other crowd favorite Pittsburgh Bars in South Side. So, it is a great place to start your night, then take a short cab ride right onto Carson Street and make your nightlife decisions from there. Over all, Bar Louie would be a great place to go if you want to experience something different every now and then.

I am a big fan of Bar Louie happy hours…The place is clean, open, and for the most part filled with Johnnie and Jane Yinzer fresh from their jobs in town and looking to get toasted. I guess the only upside/downside (how you look at it?), is the sheer number of cougars on the prowl. A quick glance across the bar will yield a plethora of “Pittsburgh Perm” wearing older gals looking to score. If that is your cup of tea, then happy hunting!
PS - This poster is in the 25-30 age demographic, no offense was intended.
PSS - If someone wants a quadruple Red Bull and Vodka, just look the other way and serve the damn drink regardless of his/her current mental state.
