The Locker Room Sports Bar & Grille Review

Locker Room Bar and GrilleThe Locker Room Bar and Grille is a unique sports bar located in the heart of Pittsburgh’s South Side. Good food and great drink specials make this place a great Pittsburgh happy hour spot and much more than a typical steelers bar.

The food at the Locker Room is much better than anticipated; we went in and expected cheap, greasy food (a stereotype for most bar food)… but were pleasantly surprised. Huge portions and bold flavors helped to separate the Locker Room’s food from standard bar food. Another nice aspect of the Locker Room is that you have options of where you want to sit, you can post up at the bar or sit at a booth to accommodate a larger crowd.

Now, here’s the important part. There are drink specials every night of the week that range from flavored Stoli fish bowls to $0.50 Miller Lite bottles. These specials aren’t just during happy hour either; there are specials throughout the day and $1 Bud Lights all day Saturday (personal favorite). Almost as important as the drinks is the bartender that is serving them to you. The service was pretty good and there were multiple bartenders there to help service the small groups of people standing around.

This leads us to the only aspect of the Locker Room that was lacking. . . the atmosphere. It’s not a bad place by any means, but the Locker Room did lack a decent sized crowd and the music was average at best. Typical pop music was played through the speakers, but it definitely could have used a boost in volume and variety. Trust me, we are not fans of the over played Journey song either, but a little variety can lead to a more energetic crowd.

Overall, the Locker Room is definitely a good bar to visit if you want to try something new, especially for happy hour. It is clearly one of the better sports bars in Pittsburgh and with good drink specials and underrated food, it’s a place you should probably check out during the next Steeler game (just remember to bring your terrible towel!).

I was a little disappointed with the service this past Friday. With a moderate crowd it took too long for me to get my $0.50 drafts. ;)
