Iguana Grill Bar Review
The Iguana Grill is a hidden treasure located across from the crowd favorite, Jack’s Bar, on the South Side of Pittsburgh. The small spot is a restaurant and bar that caters to a college aged or slightly older crowd, serving Mexican dishes and feature signature drinks. They have an extensive selection of Mexican beers, as well as the largest selection of fine tequilas in Pittsburgh.
A low key hang out, The Iguana Grill has daily food and drink specials that makes drinking affordable for those with busy social lives. The notable specials are on Thursday and Friday nights, promoting Mexican beer and cheap Coronas. Where else can you get a Corona for under $2.00? They also offer authentic margaritas, made with fresh lime juice, and tortilla chips served with salsa made from scratch.
The bar is considerably small, along with the dining area accessorized with a handful of tables and booths. The bathrooms are clean, but located in the basement of the place, making it a tricky walk down if you are already tipsy from the potent Mexican beverages. The Iguana Grill is definitely a place to check out if you are looking for a calm scene on a week night or a laid back place to pre-game.
There is never a cover charge (even on the weekends) which makes it a perfect place to start your night (or what we like to call “pre-game”). The Iguana Grill is a great place to grab food in Pittsburgh with friends and co-workers after work, or the perfect spot to begin your night before going to a more crowded, stuffier place further down on Carson Street.
If this sounds like a good place for you check out some other places in South Side here.

I had a HORRIBLE experience with the Iguana Grille and I am not even from Pittsburgh. It started over the phone. I called to see if they did anything special for birthdays. Apparently the owner answered the phone and was very short with me. Even if they didn’t do something special, I would have thought the owner would have said give me your name, come on in and we will figure something out for your friends birthday.
As a business owner, I could not let this go so I went to the Iguana Grille and confronted the Owner in person. She didn’t apologize and ask how we could remedy the situation. She instead repeated the same rude words in the short disgusted tone as she did on the phone. I was so pissed I could have… but I am a gentleman and do not like starting trouble.
I figured it would be best to let the world know via the internet that the OWNER of the IGUANA GRILLE is a rude person. I would NOT support her restaurant. I will let everyone know how rude she was to a customer from out of town that she did not even know. They say if you give great customer service people will tell 2 friends and if you give horrible customer service people will tell 2 friends and so on and so on.
DO NOT PATRONIZE THE IGUANA GRILLE!
