Pittsburgh After Work

Cupka’s 2 doesn’t have the same vibe as most of the bars in Pittsburgh, especially some of the bars in South Side and for good reason. . . its not supposed to. Cheap drinks and good service make this underground favorite a great bar to visit if you are trying to stretch your last dollar or just have a few beers while watching the game.

When you walk into Cupka’s you are greeted with a few tables off to the left and a long wooden bar to the right. The nice part of this particular bar is that it has enough seating and televisions that you can post up a stool and have it for a night. While not specifically a Pittsburgh sports bar, it is more than accommodating enough for a few buddies to get together and watch the Steelers’ game.

The prices at Cupka’s 2 are definitely cheaper than most places on Carson Street so you can get more bang (or in this case a bigger buzz) for you buck. Most pitchers are around $5 and there are other drink specials throughout the week to keep the crowd coming back.

Although Cupka’s is a great place to spend your time and down a few cold ones it does have its drawbacks. The biggest drawback to the place is that the bathrooms are downstairs. Yep that’s right, not down the hall or in the back but down 2 flights of steps and through a small hallway. While this isn’t a big deal at the beginning of the night, the more Miller Lites you put away the harder those steps become.

Overall Cupka’s is a good bar to visit if you know what you are in for; you are probably not going to see many girls dancing on tables and popped collars are few and far between (which is a definitely a good thing!), but if you want a good, affordable place to have some beers with a friendly crowd then Cupka’s 2 is definitely a place for you to check out.
