Isabella on Grandview – “A Romantic Dinner in Pittsburgh”
At Pittsburgh after Work were not complete jerks, close but not complete. Believe it or not we actually do have a romantic side, and when it comes to a romantic dinner in Pittsburgh we have had our share of $250 tabs.
When you think of a romantic dinner in Pittsburgh the first places that come to mind sit high atop the hill in Mt. Washington. Several upscale restaurants line Grandview with priceless views of the Pittsburgh Skyline. The Le’mont, Tin Angel, Georgetown Inn and Monterey Bay are just a few of the well known restaurants that sit along “Restaurant Row” in Mt. Washington. All are phenomenal selections to celebrate your next anniversary or to wine and dine your future ex-wife. However one restaurant sits alone in terms of the all around romantic dining experience in Pittsburgh and that restaurant is Isabella on Grandview.
Isabella sits slightly above and away from the other restaurants on Grandview. From outside Isabella could easily be mistaken for an abandoned house that could go crashing down Mt. Washington at any minute. However, when ever you enter you quickly forget about the fear of plummeting to your untimely death and are immediately taken back by the view of Pittsburgh. Isabella has two floors and there is not a bad seat in the place. The view is comparable to all other Mt. Washington locations but the food is second to none.
The unique thing about Isabella’s menu is that you pay $70 per person for a 7 course meal. The $70 is well spent because each bite of the seven course meal is worth every penny. Isabella leaves you with room to customize this meal allowing you to choose between 3 different plates for the appetizer, fish course, meat course & dessert. The highlight of my meal had to be the roasted duck leg although each selection was exceptional. Isabella does change there menu from month to month so it is definitely worth checking out more than once.
To top things off Isabella offered a wine pairing with all of the 4 main courses, each wine was hand selected to bring out the flavor of each plate. The wine pairing cost an additional $35 per person and was well worth the extra money. By the end of the night I was comfortably full and slightly buzzed. But most importantly my date was thoroughly impressed and was completely satisfied.
I highly recommend to all Pittsburghers to call and make a reservation at Isabella on Grandview. It is 100% worth the money and is a top choice for a romantic evening in Pittsburgh. Please comment and let us know your vote for most romantic restaurant in Pittsburgh.
