The $6500 Home buyer tax credit is basically an exception to the old $8000 bill for first time home buyers which just expired last November 30.  This new bill allows the homeowners who have lived in a particular residency of at least five or more years to enjoy a $6,500 cut on tax when they purchase new real estate.  This is a way for the government to encourage their people to invest on properties.  However, there are some qualifications that you need to fulfill in order to be eligible in this bill.

First of all, to be able to qualify, you need to be a home owner for five years at least.  Only those homes that are valued $800,000 or less will be eligible for this tax cut.  For single taxpayers with $125,000 or less in income, they are qualified to receive full benefits.  But for those whose income is between $125,000 to $145,000, they can get partial cut on tax.  Also it is important that you secure your sales by April 30,2010 and it should be closed by June 30, 2010.
